RISE Skate is Georgetown Skating Club’s inclusive skating initiative for children and youth who may benefit from extra support, adapted instruction and a welcoming pathway to participation.

RISE is not a separate endpoint. It is a supportive starting point, learning environment and pathway. Progression is based on readiness, comfort, safety and program fit.

Friday evenings, 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Acton Arena (Townsley Pad A), Acton.

Equipment

Learn to Skate: Properly fitted skates and a CSA-approved hockey helmet are required.

Power: Full Hockey Equipment

Frequently Asked Questions

No. A diagnosis is not required. RISE Skate focuses on the participant, their goals and what supports may help them succeed.

No. RISE Learn to Skate supports beginners, while RISE Power may be appropriate for skaters with more skating experience.

Yes. When appropriate, RISE can support a pathway into another GSC program based on readiness, comfort, safety and program fit.

That is also okay. Skaters can continue in RISE when it remains the most supportive environment for their participation and growth.

Support needs should be discussed during registration and intake so the club can determine what is possible and safe within the program.
